How to turn off automatic Offline mode in Thunderbird

Thunderbird is a good email client, but one thing that annoyed me the most was when the internet is downed, then my lovely email client automatically switch to Offline mode. But forget to switch back.

So I stuck in that mode for a while, until I realized that why no mail coming in during that moment.

I dig into the tremendous amount of plug-in (yes, ironically speaking ^^) and found some plug-ins that would do the trick, but it’s not really work. So I looked for the other way.

In Thunderbird, go to menu Tools > Options…

When the Options box appear, click on Advanced tab and General tab. Then under Advanced Configuration group, click on Config Editor… button.

You will see the about:config box and some warning text just like in Firefox. Click on “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button.

Then in the Filter box, type in “offline.autoDetect” (without quote)

under the Value column, it would say “true”, right click and hit “Toggle” to change to “false”, then close the box.

iPod Nano 1st Gen Exploded!!!

I’ve heard news about the iPod nano explosion or burned, but I’d never imagined it could happen to me. I bought it 4 years ago and really love it, I used it everyday and take it with me everywhere. After 4 years, I bought a new iPod Nano 4th Gen and gave the old one to my brother.

2 days ago around 3 a.m., my brother was woke up to a strange hissing sound from the iPod, he heard ‘pop’ sound and followed with the flame from the iPod, lot of smoke.

How could this happened? The iPod was left on the table with charging, it just exploded?

How bad could someone injured if he put it in his shirt pocket ?(or jeans pocket as I always do)

It was very lucky that my brother hear the sound and put out the fire in time, and also the iPod was put on the table, not on the bed or the fire could burn down my house.

To all iPod Nano 1st Gen owners: Do not leave it charge unattended and Do not put it near any flammable object!

Updated: 1 week after I claimed the incident to Apple support in Thailand (Macintosh Center), I get a new refurbished iPod Nano.
