Thai Style Appointment

Posted on July 4th, 2008

Last week, my colleagues had an appointment with a big company in Thailand at 1 p.m. They waited for 30 minutes and the person they expected not show up, so one of my colleague didn’t want to wait any longer and came back to our office. That person showed up 30 minutes later, and apologized for being late. She looked a little upset when knewn that one of my colleague went back, and said that she will not work with anybody with this kind of manner (WTF!!??). Anyway, the meeting went well, though we did not make any progress with this company.

This kind of situation is normal when you do business with Thai people, especially with a big-100%-thai company. We have to wait patiently and cannot complaint much, or they will not do business with us. The same thing also happen when we deal with the government officers, though it is a lot better now, but you can expect to see them do nothing or chatting when you wait (30 minutes, patiently).
