ClearType เป็นลูกเล่นหนึ่งของวินโดวส์ ที่ทำให้ขอบของตัวอักษรที่แสดงบนจอภาพ กลมกลืนกับพื้นหลังมากขึ้นไม่ตัดกันชัดเจน ตัวอักษรจึงอ่านง่ายและสวยขึ้น ตามตัวอย่างข้างล่าง

วิธีการเปิดใช้งาน ClearType บนวินโดวส์ XP (ใช้ได้เฉพาะ WindowsXP)

1. ใช้โปรแกรม Internet Explorer เข้าไปที่หน้า [[ClearType]] ของไมโครซอฟท์
2. คลิกที่ Turn On ClearType แล้วกด Next
3. เลือกชนิดของจอภาพ (RGB หรือ BGR) กดปุ่ม Next
4. เลือกรูปที่อ่านแล้วสบายตาที่สุด กด Finish

ถ้าใช้แล้วมีปัญหา สามารถดาวน์โหลดโปรแกรม Microsoft PowerToys มาปรับแ่ต่งค่าของ ClearType ได้

The world keep moving forward, so why should we care about those users who are attached to their out-of-date browser. A website should look the same in all browser, not with those bugs and never-been-fixed-functions which requires a good deal more patience as a developer.

Anyway, some of my clients want their website to look good in IE6 as well as in modern browser (such as IE7, Firefox, Opera), so I do it backward. When I design, I started from those modern browser first, after that I will look back on IE6 and IE5.5, etc.
